The show goes like : under the parasols, in company with the clowns, you may really enjoy it. Do you want to laugh ? To play jokes, until you win a red clown nose ? Do you want to think about loads of funny things ? So come and see what happens when you meet the clowns, under a parasol !
The company was created in 1977 as a student theatre led by Alena and Marian Michalides. From the beginning, Usmev put the stress on the theatre of movements, improvisation and gags. Usmev is a Slovak word meaning “Smile”. A clown symbolizes it. Nowadays, its shows are played in several Slovak theatres and arts centres. The repertoire contains plays for children and adults such as “Pirouette” or “Pelican in the desert”. Usmev also played “The insects’ life”, by the Capek brothers, in England and Germany.
