After the production of Jean l'Éperdu in May 2018, the troupe Créarc / Arist begins its second season. It does so with a new creation Aeneas in the Underworld. And it is at the Petit Théâtre du Créarc that the show will be performed.
The show is adapted from Virgil's Aeneid Song VI.
After the destruction of Troy by the Greeks, Aeneas flees with a group of his companions. His journey takes him to Cumae, near Naples. There Aeneas meets the Sibyl. She agrees to lead him to Hell, where he wishes to meet the soul of his father, Anchises, who died during the journey.
The play tells the story of this descent into Hell. There Aeneas meets Dido, Queen of Carthage, who died of love for him, and his cousin Diphobe, Hélène's third husband. He finally reaches the Champs Elysées where he meets his father. Anchise predicted to Aeneas that he would found Rome and that it would become the new Troy. Aeneas, back on the surface of the earth, now knows that he has a mission to fulfil. Having pacified his past, he turns to the future.
The show is performed by a permanent troupe of 10 actors with intellectual disabilities, under the direction of Créarc and Arist.
