In the village of Ouramandja, Modibo is considered crazy and that satisfies him completely! This is indeed where the total freedom he enjoys comes from. One day, however, his grandson Ali comes to complain to him about the harshness of his life as a "grandson of a madman". Instead of trying to reassure him, or denying his madness, Modibo suggests a trip. Together, they will travel the world and Ali will discover that his grandfather's madness often makes more sense than the actions of "average" people.
