The Show
A group of itinerant actors arrive at Thèbes. The sovereign of the city asks them to play for the celebration of the Oedipus story, from his birth until his marriage with Jocaste.
So, the actors interpret the successive
episodes of this story: marriage of Jocaste and Laïos, birth and abandonment of
the child at the Cithéron mount, adoption by the king of Corinthe, Oedipus’
travel to Delphes where the oracle predicts him that he will kill his
father...until the victory over the Spinhx and his marriage with Jocaste.
Theatre inside the theatre, the show is the echo of a time where it mingled drama, farce and songs. It is also an introduction of the Parade-show of Saturday 8th of July, dedicated to Oedipus King of Sophocle.
