This poetic text recounts the 8th May 1945 demonstrations which
took place in Sétif, when thousands of Algerians demanded that France
recognises their identity. Kateb Yacine, with his poetic and flamboyant writing
sets this scene with the protagonists of this event: Lakhdar, the militant,
Nedjma, the patriotic mother, Mustapha, Hassan and the messenger, companions...
A rich pictorial play influenced by the antique choir, and
animated with switching dialogues in French and Arabic. A reconciliation chant.
