It’s Sunday night and there has been a power cut at Brindsley Miller’s flat in South Kensington. The whole neighborhood is in the dark. Neighbours are guessing who each other are but can’t see each other. Yet there is much to do and this is only the beginning. High on Brindsley’s list is to bring back all the priceless pieces of furniture and art objects he borrowed from his neighbour’s flat without his permission. Obscurity could become his best ally. In “Black Comedy”, the visual codes on stage are reversed. When the characters see, the actors play in the dark. When the actors are in the light, their characters are blind. Their discomfort is our delight.
