The 23rd Rencontres have the theme: To the discovery of a New World. The parade and the workshops that prepare it will allow us to treat it in a historical way through the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus. The Grand Debate, as for it, has the mission to consider this theme throughout the world of today. We will ask ourselves the question : Which new world for tomorrow ? What image do we have ? And what role can we have in its development?
Across Europe, the supremacy of the economist and financial vision of the world challenges the place of cultural, philosophical and spiritual values.
How does this domination translate into cultural and theatrical life ? In the exercise of artistic and theatrical education ? In the implementation of creation ? What can the exchanges of young actors at the European level ? What can the theater ? What are the values it promotes? What situation is it made for him ? What is the function of theater men and women ? What role can play theater in building a democratic and tolerant society ?
We will try to answer these questions in a concrete way. The work of this seminar should allow to see more clearly in the reality that we live and to put it in words. They could also help us formulate ways to transform and reorient it.
Finally, they could be a step in the preparation of a larger seminar that would link to the one in 2004 that allowed us to elaborate the Charter and the Young European Theater Network.
This seminar should allow us to deepen our reflection and consolidate our action.
Is it not time to think together about our life?
